Stockton South Parliamentary Spokesperson, Jacquie Bell was a member of the UK delegation to the ELDR Congress in Stockholm. ELDR is the grouping of sister parties of the Liberal Democrats in Europe. Its membership includes the Prime Ministers of Finland, Latvia and Andorra as well as European Commissioners.
Candidate for President of the Liberal Democrats, Lembit Öpik MP, will be visiting the North East today to help local Lib Dems in Stockton campaign against the Government's ID card policy.
Stockton's representatives at the Federal Party conference in Bournemouth included Jacquie Bell our PPC. Jacquie spoke in the debate on pensions, pointing out the need for flexible arrangements to allow as many older people as possible to manage their own affairs with dignity. She spoke of the problems experienced by some who have moved into residential and care homes.
Bags of promo stuff 'a waste'
Local Liberal Democrats are angry that the support that the Government is supposedly going to give to those facing repossession are far too restrictive and will not help most people desperately in need of support.
