Responding to the Government's defeat on Amendment 7 of the Withdrawal Bill today to give Parliament a meaningful vote on the final deal, Liberal Democrat Brexit Spokesperson Tom Brake said:
The government has promised a consultation document (Green Paper) on children.s and young people's health. This will include £95million for schools to appoint and train designated staff for mental health support from 2019. Stockton Liberal Democrats welcome this announcement especially since a recent survey from Parent Zone in 2016 showed 91 percent of teachers reported seeing increased rates of mental illness, 95 percent of schools deal with stress and anxiety among their pupils and just under 70 percent deal with depression.

Following the news this week that some people on Universal Credit are being refused the free dental care and prescriptions to which they are entitled Stockton Liberal Democrats are calling on the government to sort out this mess. There is currently no way for pharmacists or dentists to identify those people who are receiving the elements of UC which qualify them for free treatment. As a result there is no option but to charge.
