Last night Stockton Council Cabinet voted to accept the recommendation to drop plans for rebuilding Egglescliffe School on Preston Park.
Jubilant campaigners gathered this morning on the Park to celebrate and to emphasise that the next step is to protect the Park for future generations by ensuring that its status is firmly enshrined in Stockton Council's policies.
