Nick Clegg comes to Redcar

3 May 2010

At last night's public meeting in Redcar, attended by Jacquie Bell and other members of the Stockton team, Nick Clegg spoke of the disastrous way in which Labour and Tory governments have ignored this area. He spoke of Lib Dem plans to get our banks supporting local businesses that have viable plans to create new jobs;

Of the need to get ports and rail links working to support our region and link it effectively to the rest of the UK and the world;

Of Lib Dem plans for apprenticeships, training, graduate internships and more to build on the skills which are no longer being used by the old industries of the area.

Nick spoke of the need for real change to produce a fairer Britain and answered many questions from the public of all ages on a wide range of topics across the whole range of Lib Dem policies.

His shortest answer came to the question "If you are in power after Thursday will you support SureStart?". Answer "Yes!."
