Recent items in & around Eaglescliffe Ward

1. Urlay Nook

Stockton Council planners have refused to permit the erection of a

storage warehouse and ancillary parking.

2. Beechwood Road / Witham Avenue

Stockton Council officers propose to introduce 24-hour waiting

restrictions on this corner. Comments by 27-5-07.

3. 1 South View

A revised layout plan has been submitted for the planning application

for the erection of an apartment building containing 8 flats &

associated car parking (demolition of existing dwelling house).

4. Newsham

Stockton Council planners have permitted the temporary siting of a

static caravan in connection with an established intelligent

horsemanship & livery business at Ryehills Equestrian Centre, near

Rosecote Farm.

5. A67

Stockton Council planners have refused a retrospective planning

application for the erection of a stable block & storage building at The

Garth, Aislaby Grange. Enforcement action is to be initiated to ensure

that the buildings are demolished & all construction materials removed

from the site within 3 months of 15-5-07.

6. Yarm Road

a. The application to erect 2 3-storey dwelling houses (Eaglescliffe

Ward News 16-5-07, Para. 1.c) would involve the demolition of the

existing retail unit at Num. 704 & 706. Comments by 6-6-07.

b. There is an appeal against Stockton Council planners' refusal of

change of use of Num. 704 & 706 to hot food take-away (Use Class A5).

Comments (preferably in triplicate) need to reach Mr Tim Mather, The

Planning Inspectorate, Room 3/19A, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square,

Temple Quay, BRISTOL, BS1 6PN, quoting ref: APP/H0738/A/07/2043736/NWF,

by 13-6-07.

c. Balfour Beatty works at the junction with Oak Road, involving the

use of temporary traffic signals for several days. Signals will

initially be off-peak but there will be a need to keep them operational

over the peak period at some point.

7. Urlay Nook Road

Stockton BC Direct Service works until 25th May involving the use of

temporary traffic signals.

8. Preston Park

Tees Archaeology Newsletter No. 10 of April 2007 contains an article on

excavations of the original course of the Stockton & Darlington

Railway. Volunteers are welcome for a survey project 1 to 5 Oct. 2007

(tees-archaeology@hartlepool.gov.uk).

9. The Brickworks of the Stockton-on-Tees Area

The above-named book by Alan Betteney, published recently, contains a

chapter on the former brickworks of Preston & Eaglescliffe. It is on

sale for £5.50 at the Tourist Information Centre, Stockton Central

Library, & Preston Hall.

10. Annual Meeting of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council 23-5-07

a. Cllr Maureen Rigg has been made Chairman of the Environment Select

Committee instead of the Children & Young People Select Committee.

b. Cllr John Fletcher has been made Chairman of the Audit Committee

instead of the Adults, Leisure & Culture Select Committee. He ceased to

be Mayor's Consort on the expiry of the term of office as Mayor of his

wife, Eaglescliffe resident Cllr Suzanne Fletcher. He has been made

Deputy Mayor of this Borough for 2007-08.

11. 15 Butts Lane

Stockton Council have received an application raise crown, thin crown,

reduce limb over house and remove deadwood from 1 horse chestnut.

12. 5 Wear Crescent

Stockton Council have received a planning application for change of use

from open space to garden and two storey extension to side and single

storey extension to front.
