Recent news items in Eaglescliffe Ward

1. Yarm Road

a. Stockton Council has received an application to fell an ash tree

(having a Tree Preservation Order) in the grounds of The Bungalow, The

Avenue. Comments by 29-5-07.

b. Stockton Council has received a planning application for erection of

82 no. bed care home and associated means of access, car parking and

landscaping at Num. 654-656.

c. Stockton Council has received a planning application for erection of

2 three storey dwellinghouses at Num. 704-706.

d. Stockton Council planners have approved with conditions the erection

of external timber bottle serving bar at the Blue Bell, No. 663.

e. Stockton Council planners have approved with conditions the Revised

application for erection of 3 bay detached garage, loft conversion and

installation of dormer windows and pitched roof over existing flat roof

at No. 652A.

2. Butterfield Drive

A children's craft session will take place at Egglescliffe Branch

Library on Thursday May 31 3 - 4pm (01642) 527958. The event is free;

however, places are limited so people must book in order to take part

and an adult must accompany all children under 8-years old.

3. A66 Surtees Bridge

There are CLOSURES scheduled of the A66 both carriageways until 17th May

2007 between 19:30 - 00:00 in order to lift out existing piers. A

signed diversion route will be available at all times.

4. Mayfield Crescent

Stockton Council by 25-5-07 will begin reconstructing / improving the

footways on both sides from the junction with Mayfield Close to the

northern junction with Durham Lane.

5. Preston Park

a. Stockton Council's Parks and Countryside section is holding a free

guided walks at Quarry Wood Local Nature Reserve and Preston Park on

Thursday, May 17 at 10.30am. This one-hour walk will look at the history

of the site including the Stockton to Darlington Railway and where

volcanic activity has taken place in the past. The walk, led by the

Borough's Local Nature Reserve Officer and supported by the Heritage

Lottery Fund, is aimed at beginners so are not too strenuous but will

still get the heart and lungs pumping. The walk will help people to

discover the history behind the site. Booking is not required. For

b. The Museum of My Life project has been taking place in six museums

across the North East - each one led by professional writers, artists

and museum specialists. The exhibition aims to encourage local

communities to get the most out of museum collections through creative

writing. Coming out of the Museum of My Life will be a special

exhibition about ordinary people's lives, curated by ordinary people.

The whole project will culminate with a published anthology, featuring

writing generated by participants. Museum of My Life is led by New

Writing North, in partnership with six regional museums. It is funded

through The Heritage Lottery Fund, The Foyle Foundation, MLA North East

and the North East Regional Museums Hub. At Preston Hall Museum, writer

Carina Rodney, artists Effie Burns and museum specialists, John Beeley

and Angela Whitecross, have been working together to deliver the project

with two groups of people of all ages from Ingleby Barwick and Newtown.

The exhibition runs until Thursday, 12 July.

6. Urlay Nook Road

Stockton Council have received a planning application from Egglescliffe

School for the erection of 1 mobile classroom. Comments by 31-5-07.

7. The Avenue

Stockton Council have received a planning application for replacement of

existing 'portable' classroom unit within school grounds of Teesside

High School.

8. Durham Lane

Stockton Council have received a planning application for erection of 1

5 bedroom dwellinghouse incorporating a one bedroom granny flat and a

two bedroom guest house above the 3 bay garage and new means of access

at Low Crook Farm (Demolition of 2 existing dwellinghouses).
