News in & around Eaglescliffe Ward

1. Hoylake & Wentworth Ways

Several residents at the scene of a road traffic accident near Portland Close asked for traffic calming. Stockton Council engineers' Traffic Data Officer replied, "Requests for traffic calming measures are received by my Department too frequently to be dealt with immediately and are therefore normally added to a list of similar requests awaiting investigation. They are then given one of two priority ratings; residential roads with one or more pedestrian injury accidents are given a priority 'A' rating and are reviewed annually before becoming contenders for Local Safety Scheme funding. All other sites are put on the priority 'B' list and could then become contenders for funding from the Environmental Traffic Calming budget which has been established in reaction to residents' perceived fears of accidents. I am pleased to inform you that there have been no reported injury accidents on Portland Close, Hoylake Way and Wentworth Way in the latest 3 year period and the site has therefore been put on the priority 'B' list. With the large number of sites on the 'B' list I am unable to say when these roads could be treated."
