Updates on various items in Eaglescliffe Ward

As at 9-11-07:

1. Preston Park

Stockton Council's Officers Traffic Group have been informed of proposals to be held 1 day a week over a ten week period. The event is a large-scale gospel meeting involving members of approximately 11 churches, with approximately 6,000 participants. It will take place on Wednesday nights from mid-April until end of June, between 7.30pm-9.00pm. Church

groups are being encouraged to travel by mini-bus and the AA are signing the event from the A19/A66. The Officers Traffic Group did not envisage any problems in terms of traffic associated with the event, and were in support of the proposals. Stockton Council planners have now given permission for the erection of a compund area including 1 big-top tent to

be used for 1 night a week for 10 weeks.

2. Oak Road

We looked into the possibility of using our ward small environmental scheme budget for next year for a formal parking area on Oak Road adjacent to number 32. Stockton Council's Officer Traffic Group considered the request and felt this was acceptable as it would displace vehicles from parking on the highway which occurs at present.

3. Aislaby

a. Stockton Council has received a planning application for the erection of 1 dwelling house (demolition of existing building) at Meadowcroft. Comments by 29-11-07.

b. Stockton Council has received a retrospective planning application for the change of use of agricultural buildings & land to dog kennels & training / exercise area at Highfield View. Comments by 26-11-07.

c. Stockton Council has received a planning application for the erection of swimming pool, changing room, plant room and new garage (demolition of existing garage) at Aislaby Manor.

4. Durham Lane

Stockton Council has received a planning application for the display of advertisements at Orchard Mews (site of Orchard Filling Station) - 2 posters on gable walls & 3 posters on front elevations. Comments by 27-11-07.

5. 7 Butts Lane

Stockton Council planners have approved with conditions the

crown-cleaning of 1 Scots pine tree.

6. Muirfield Road

The planning application for the erection of 2 dormer bungalows in the grounds of 529 Yarm Road has been withdrawn.

7. 131 Burnmoor Drive

Stockton Council planners have given outline permission with conditions for the erection of 1 dwelling house within the existing property boundary.

8. A66 Surtees Bridge

The Thornaby Road eastbound exit slip road and eastbound entry slip road from 1825 Way are open to all traffic. The westbound entry slip road from Thornaby Road and westbound exit slip road to 1825 Way are due to open on 7th December 2007.

1 Allen's West (former Naval Depot)

Stockton Council has received a planning application for Shed F for Change of use to D2 (Leisure) for use as soft play based family entertainment. 07/2809/COU. Comments by 3-12-07.

2 Preston Park

a. Children from Preston Primary School in Eaglescliffe will help to plant a wide variety of young trees including Hazel and Holly trees at Quarry Wood Local Nature Reserve in Preston Park on Thursday, November 22 at 10am. The event is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. For more information telephone the Local Nature Reserve Officer on (01642) 676407.

b. Meeting in public at 1300 on 28-11-07 in Stockton Town Hall, Stockton Council's Arts, Leisure & Culture Select Committee has on its agenda a progress report on the review of Preston Hall & Park. The Committee in its review of river-based leisure facilities will also take evidence on proposals for a River Tees Park from Graham Clingan (Strategy and Development Manager, Countryside and Green Space, of the Council) and Mr Doug Nicholson (Chair of Friends of River Tees Heritage Park). 3 Wass Way

Yarm Rugby & Sports Club have applied for a licence under the Licensing Act 2003 for Plays, Films, Indoor Sporting Events, Boxing Or Wrestling, Live Music, Recorded Music, Performance Of Dance, Facilities For Making Music/Dancing, and Supply Of Alcohol - Monday to Thursday and Sunday 11.00hrs until 24.00hrs and Friday to Saturday 11.00hrs until 01.00hrs. 3 A66

There is a full CLOSURE of the A66 in both directions planned on the 21st November between 19:30 - 06:30 for safety fence works.

4 Durham Lane

Stockton Council planners have given permission with conditions for the erection & operation of mortar-mixing plant at Eaglescliffe Block Works.

5 Durham Tees Valley Airport

Stockton Council's Planning Committee has varied the conditions attached to the planning permission for the South Side to allow general employment use on 20 hectares there.

6. 11 Station Road

Stockton Council has received a planning application for Change of use from Beauty Salon (Sui Generis) to Hairdressers Salon (A1). Comments by 10-12-07.

7. The Avenue

Stockton Council planners have permitted with conditions the conversion of existing outbuilding into 2 dwelling units & alterations to remainder of outbuilding to provide residential annex to main house at Copsewood Mews.
