News items of local interest in & around Eaglescliffe Ward.

1. Preston Park

a. The 'Fashion Starz' project has seen 20 young designers from Eaglescliffe Youth Club explore late nineteenth century fashions as well as archive photographs of the region. They were helped to create their own Victorian-inspired outfits by fashion designers Greener Lavelle. Their work will be displayed there from Saturday, 10 March until Saturday, 5 May. Members of the public can join some family activities, including design a patch for a large great-coat which will also be displayed at the Museum. This exhibition is the result of an outreach project run by Stockton Museum Service and Stockton Youth Service which was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Preston Hall Museum is open 10.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday, 12pm to 3.45pm Sundays (9.00am to 4.30pm on Sundays from March 24). To contact Preston Hall Museum, call (01642) 781184.

b. Anyone interested in helping out with conservation work can go to Preston Park for 'An Introduction to Countryside Volunteering' from 10am until noon on 25-3-07. This event is for anyone who is interested in wildlife and would like to get involved in practical, woodland management. Anyone interested is asked to wear suitable clothing and meet at Preston Park main entrance gates. For details call (01642) 527562.

c. The Friends of Tees Heritage Park has been formed to promote the creation of a Heritage Park along the Tees, initially between Stockton Town Centre and Yarm. Presentation & launch 1015 31-3-07.

2. A66 Trunk Road

A signed diversion will be in place for each night for the duration of the works:

a. A-one are carrying out a road marking renewal scheme on the westbound carriageway, which will be closed:

From 1930 on 12-3-07 to 0600 on 13-3-07 from the South Stockton Link interchange to Yarm Road Interchange.

From 1930 on 13-3-07 to 0600 on 14-3-07 from Yarm Road Interchange to Elton Interchange. From 2100 on 14-3-07 to 0600 on 15-3-07 closure of the westbound entry slip road.

b. There will also be closures of both carriageways on Surtees Bridge over the R Tees between 19:30 and 06:30 on Monday 12th, Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th March.

3. Durham Lane

a. Emergency gas repairs by Northern Gas Network will begin on Monday 12th March on Durham Lane near Coatham Brick Works for one week. Work will involve the use of temporary traffic signals (off-peak).

b. Stockton Council planners have refused permission for the erection of 1 dwelling with attached triple garage (demolition of existing Low Crook Farm dwelling).

4. Yarm Road

a. Trial hole work in a footway on Yarm Road near the Cleveland Bay PH will be undertaken on Sunday 18th March for one day. Work will require the closure of the northbound left turn filter lane north of Aislaby Road. Work will involve the permanent traffic light switched off with the use of 3-way temporary traffic signals.

b. The application for the erection of a freestanding non-illuminated "V" board advertising sign with flag poles on the plot of The Bungalow (The Avenue) has been withdrawn.

5. Preston Lane

Stockton Council planners have approved with conditions the alteration and extension of the existing Preston Farm house & outbuilding/barn to create an additional dwelling.

6. Aislaby

Stockton Council has received an outline planning application for the erection of a dwelling at Hill House, Aislaby Road.

7. A67

Stockton Council has received an application for a Certificate of Lawfulness for use of land at 2 Aislaby Grange Bungalows for residential purposes incidental to the enjoyment of the dwelling house.
