Can you cut 10%?
Stockton Liberal Democrats supported a move to sign Stockton Council up to the 10:10 campaign. This commits individuals and organisations to cut 10% from their energy use by the end of next year, 2010.
Speaking in the debate Councillor Maureen Rigg said, "Tonight in Parliament a move to have the campaign adopted there was defeated by a Labour majority which thinks we're doing enough. This from a Labour government which has spent over £18bn on trying to tackle fuel poverty but would rather give a winter fuel payment than fund double glazing for a draughty house.
"Liberal Democrats adopted the campaign as policy at our annual conference and so we are all signed up already. Stockton Liberal Democrats have challenged each other to see who can cut their energy use the most.
"If any other party would like to join in the competition we'd be very happy to take them on."
