Councillors Suzanne Fletcher and Julia Cherrett, Liberal Democrat Councillors for the Bishopsgarth and Elm Tree ward, are furious at developers snubbing the Council. There are a number of breaches on planning rules around, but one that everyone can see is the unauthorised boards advertising new houses.

Stockton Liberal Democrats are delighted that Councillor Julia Roberts today married Preston Parish Councillor Mike Cherrett. Mike was formerly the Borough Councillor for Preston Ward then Eaglescliffe Ward, retiring last year. Julia continues to represent Bishopsgarth and Elmtree ward.

We have heard that charity bags left out for the Air Ambulance Charity left out in Bishopsgarth yesterday, were collected by an unmarked white van before the charity van arrived to collect.

Sun 12th Nov 2006:

Today Suzanne Fletcher celebrates the 25th anniversary of her election to Stockton Council. On November 12th 1981 she drove a thin orange wedge into the red/blue comfort zone of Stockton Town Hall, winning the Elm Tree ward by-election.

We have long campaigned for an end of speeding fines not being able to be spent on local traffic calming and road safety education schemes. There is now a move to make it easier for this money to be spent locally on what is needed.

Thu 5th May 2005:

There has been a meeting of some residents in the Bishopsgarth area about setting up a residents association to look at local issues such as speeding in the Marske Lane area, and antisocial behaviour.

Tue 3rd May 2005:

The speed limit on the Ring Road, from Sainsbury's to Hartburn Lane / Darlington Road junction has been dropped from 40 to 30 m.p.h for about 9 months now, but many motorists (97%!) have not noticed and are being caught on camera. Suzanne had asked for extra signs but the Government will not allow it.

Julia Cherrett

Julia Cherrett was elected councillor for the Bishopsgarth & Elm Tree ward in 2005, sharing the role with Suzanne Fletcher.

Julia sits on the Health and Social Care Select Committee, Home Safety Association and the Cleveland Fire Authority where she is a member of the Service Delivery Scrutiny Committee. She is Vice-chair of the Housing and Community Safety Select committee.

She is also a member of the Corporate Policy Select Committee. She is active on regional issues.

Suzanne Fletcher represents the Bishopsgarth and Elm Tree Ward, and has been a Coucnillor for over 25 years. She is the vice Chair of the Executive Scrutiny Committee, and also sits on the corporate policy and social inclusion select committee. This year her husband, John, is Deputy Mayor so she is the Deputy Mayoress.
