Stockton Council has refused permission for the Quad Bike and Motorcycle facility at Riverside Lodge, A67, Eaglescliffe.

The new owners of the site north of Allens West Station are making plans for its future. There will be a trailer with an exhibition in the car park at Orchard Shops on Friday 30th March from noon to 6pm and on Saturday 31st March from 10am to 2pm.

By the narrowest possible margin - the chairman's casting vote - SBC planning committee decided that 13/15 Station Road was an acceptable development. Despite the fact that the roof height is 1.2metres above that which was granted planning permission the decision was taken to follow the officer's recommendation and not pursue enforcement.

The new owners of the Eaglescliffe Logistics Centre (formerly the MOD site) have renamed their site "Allens West" after the nearby railway station.

Tue 17th Oct 2006:

On October 9th Eaglescliffe councillors and residents received the decision of the planning inspector on the McCarthy & Stone applications to build on the site of Glenrea and the Bungalow in The Avenue. The inspector has allowed both appeals, dismissing all the arguments about probable traffic problems, road safety, the character of the area and the excessive size of the building which were put so eloquently by local residents as well as your councillors.

Councillor John Fletcher

Councillor John Fletcher has represented Eaglescliffe Ward since 1987. He sits on the Transport & Regeneration and Standards committees. He is Chairman of the Audit Committee. He acts as substitute on the Planning Committee when needed.

One of John's main interests is transport and he campaigns vigorously for better public buses and trains, as well as safety on the local railway lines. This year he is the Deputy Mayor, a non-political role. John is also a member of Egglescliffe Parish Council, of which he has been a Vice-chairman and Chairman.

Councillor Maureen Rigg

Maureen Rigg

Maureen and her husband, Denis, have lived in Eaglescliffe since 1978 and have two grown-up daughters who both went to Egglescliffe Comprehensive School. Maureen' chairs the Environment Select Committee. She is also Chair of the Western Area Partnership Board of Stockton Renaissance, which helps formulate strategic priorities for the area covered by Preston, Egglescliffe, Long Newton, Elton, Aislaby, Newsham, Yarm and Kirklevington.

Consulting on planning applications for the ward takes up a significant part of Maureen's time, and she sits on the Planning Committee. Maureen is also a member of Egglescliffe Parish Council which is the first tier of local government in that part of Eaglescliffe Ward. She is the Liberal Democrat Group Leader on Stockton Council

Councillor Alan Lewis

Alan Lewis

Alan was elected in May 2007 following Mike Cherrett's retirement. Alan is very keen to see more opportunities for young people in the ward and to ensure that the environment in the ward is enhanced rather than spoilt by future developments. Alan sits on the Children & Young People Select committee, the Children's Trust Board and the Licensing Committee.

Alan is also a member of Egglescliffe School Governing Body. He has been a member of Egglescliffe Parish Council since 2006.
