One rule for big business ?

Councillors Suzanne Fletcher and Julia Cherrett, Liberal Democrat Councillors for the Bishopsgarth and Elm Tree ward, are furious at developers snubbing the Council. There are a number of breaches on planning rules around, but one that everyone can see is the unauthorised boards advertising new houses.

Taylor Woodrow have had these boards on Darlington Back Lane for over 6 months now, and are ignoring all requests from the Council to remove them. There are also boards on Harrowgate Lane near to the Mitre for other developers that have not been there as long.

Suzanne says " It is ridiculous that the Council is having to spend time on this when there are other, bigger, problems to deal with. Developers should not be cocking a snook at the Council like this, but taking note and taking action. Householders and small businesses have to do as asked, why should big business get away with it".
