At tonight's full meeting of Stockton Council, Liberal Democrats focussed on Policing and crime issues.

Councillor Suzanne Fletcher expressed her disgust that the Government was not paying any money to the Borough for them to carry out the much vaunted "RESPECT" agenda to fight crime and anti social behaviour. The only reason for this as that Stockton has met targets set by the Government. She said

"Every Councillor in this chamber, even if only just elected, will be aware of issues of anti social behaviour, drugs and crime in their wards. As there is supposed to be changes at the top in our Government, will the Council lobby for money to fight these issues" ?

Councillor Maureen Rigg raised issues about the cost to the Police funds of civil claims. Councillor John Fletcher spoke on the "Labour Stitch Up" on the appointments to the Police Authority which had deprived Stockton Borough of it's proper share of representatives.
